This seminar will focus on what a gender analysis of the recent social movements in Algeria, Lebanon, Iraq and Sudan can teach us about the concepts of transformation, leadership, political alliances or social roles.
The series showcases results from an ongoing research project on the drivers, character, and aspirations of the ongoing social movements in Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Sudan. The goals are to engage with the global research community and to cross-fertilizing ideas among the various countries research teams. The workshops are held in Arabic, English and French with simultaneous translation to maximize interactions.
The “Rethinking Arab Social Movements” series is organized by the Institute for Social Sciences Research on Algeria (ISSRA) in partnership with the Economic Research Forum (Cairo), the Bayan Centre (University of Baghdad), and the Development Studies and Research Institute (University of Khartoum).
