Media control holds crucial political importance for the Algerian regime. Public advertising in Algeria represents 65% of the global advertising market. Distributed through the National Publishing and Advertising Agency (ANEP), public advertising allows the regime to maintain its grip over the media sphere. Understanding the political dynamics behind media control through the strategic use of advertising is all the more crucial in the current context of economic crisis during which several media are struggling to survive.
