Zohra Aziadé Zemirli

Zohra Aziadé Zemirli is a lawyer and author of a book entitled “The legal status of non-Muslim Algerians in Algeria” published by Harmattan in 2020. The book is an extract from her doctoral thesis, defended in 2018, at the Doctoral School of Comparative Law at the Sorbonne University under the supervision of Nathalie Bernard-Maugiron. The thesis obtained in 2019 the special mention of the jury of the Institute for the Study of Islam and Societies of the Muslim World (IISMM) and a prize from the Scientific Interest Group (GIS) for the best French-written thesis on the Middle East and the Muslim worlds.

She is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Population and Development Center (CEPED), University of Paris / Institute for Research on Development (IRD) working on a project entitled “Equality and Law in Personal Status”.

Her articles were published in collective books and on the site “L’Observatoire Pharos” and have largely focused on religious and cultural pluralism and the relationship between religion and state in Algeria.

She is also a member of the « Islam et altérité » (Islam and Otherness) laboratory of the Institute of Science and Theology of Religions (ISTR) of the Catholic Institute of Paris (ICP) where she teaches a seminar.
